VDL Container Systems adopts an approach focused on simplicity and reliability in the design and development of container spreaders. Container spreaders are subjected to heavy impacts and snag loads. Therefore, all critical components and assemblies on a VDL container spreader are designed to require fewer electronics and fewer mechanical rotating parts. VDL spreaders are also equipped with an intelligent hydraulic design that provides redundancy in the event of pump or motor failure.

VDL manages its full engineering and manufacturing processes in-house in the Netherlands. This enables the rapid fulfillment of specific requirements for the spreaders. The combination of modular design, customer-specific requirements, and strict manufacturing and quality assurance standards results in a spreader that offers superior quality and reliability while being fully tailored to customer needs.

In addition to spreaders used as standard in container terminals, we also provide customer-specific spreaders such as fixed 20 ft and fixed 40 ft spreaders. We also offer telescopic spreaders ranging from 10 ft to 20 ft. Such spreaders are typically operated in warehouses, either fully automatically or manually.

All VDL spreaders can be shipped inside high-cube containers to ensure the most optimal transport costs worldwide.

VDL spreaders are protected as standard by a unique powder coating surface finish. This environmentally friendly process provides maximum corrosion protection (C5M according to EN ISO 12944) and offers a long-lasting, excellent appearance!

All our spreaders are designed in compliance with the EN 15056 spreader directive and the EN 13001 crane directive. Additionally, the 2006/42 EC Machinery Directive is taken into consideration.
